Light Year 26: (IM)Personal

June 1st, Dusk - 10pm

The Triangle at Pearl Street and Anchorage Place

(IM)PERSONAL examines the meaning of the missing human character and the classic narratives in video/film. There are no specific human characters in this selection. Paradoxically at the same time, the videos tell specific stories related to specific life circumstances or some personal phenomenology of the artists.
The personification of the abstract or concrete object has its traditions in the film classic. We know how important is the objective world for David Lynch or how determinative is the place of nature in the films of Michelangelo Antonioni. In video art – the direct documentation, fragmentation and de-fragmentation of the sites are not only easier than in the film productions but it is a mandatory technique which most directly leads to the idea. This immediacy of the video makes the object looks heroic and it becomes the main character. Another important feature of these videos is the lack of dialogue and this is due not only the lack of human characters but more because of the original concepts – based on storyline and plot which do not rely on textual description.
